EVE is a massive multiplayer online game (MMOG) set in a science-fiction based, persistent, single unsharded world. Players take the role of spaceship pilots seeking fame, fortune, and adventure in a huge, complex, exciting, and sometimes hostile galaxy.
EVE takes place in a cluster of stars far from mankind’s original habitat, planet Earth. How far away, and whether or not that cradle of civilization still exists, is a mystery. Humans arrived through a natural wormhole and, gazing up upon an alien sky they had never seen, were completely unable to determine where this new world was located. From the New Eden solar system, where the gate of EVE once led to the old world, humans expanded in all directions at a furious pace, exploring and colonizing rapidly.
Then, unexpectedly and seemingly unprovoked, the EVE gate collapsed in an apocalyptic catastrophe of a scale never before witnessed by the human race, ruining the New Eden system in the process. Thousands of small colonies were left in complete isolation to fend for themselves, cut off from the old world. For millennia they endured, clinging to the brink of extinction, and only a handful managed to survive.
Of those that lasted, five were to rise up and become the major empires that, between them, hold the balance of power in the world of EVE. Today, they are known as the Amarr Empire, the Gallente Federation, the Caldari State, the Minmatar Republic, and the Jovian Empire. Additionally, the world is full of several small, independent factions and states.
For more than a century, the five empires have lived together in relative peace. They’ve continually strived to maintain this peace, as each faction realizes only too well the grave consequences of a massive inter-stellar war. Recent technological breakthroughs in FTL travel, and the ensuing increase in space travelers, have shaken, but not broken, the fragile peace... at least not yet.
England, France, and Spain have unleashed their forces on the Caribbean. Naval officers captain massive warships through bloody engagements at sea. Freetraders charge through blockades and smuggle the war material needed to conquer the enemy’s ports. Privateers raid enemy shipping, looting ships of their treasure and rival nations of their glory.
Through it all sail the Pirates. Bloody, bold, and resolute, they serve no flag and heed no king. They live free, fight hard, and obey only fate.
In Pirates of the Burning Sea you choose your destiny - Blistering real time Naval Combat, Savage Swashbuckling with multiple sword styles, In Depth Crafting and Trade that lines pockets and effects the conquest of the Caribbean, PvP Conquerable World all aided by random pvp, pve and trade, culminating in intense 25v25 port contests, and Dramatic Avatars.
Whether your interest is in ship combat, piracy, commercial trading, or adventure, you have a role to play, and all your adventures take place in a dramatic world of conflict and change. A dynamic commodities market provides opportunity for clever traders to turn coin, navy missions throw you into the thick of combat, and pirates have ample targets for plunder. The strategic gameplay keeps the world in flux, offering ample opportunities for both PvE missions and PvP battles & ambushes to affect the ongoing struggle. The Caribbean of 1720 is a world at war, and all players can take part on their own terms. Whether you want to join a major port conquest battle, pursue smuggling missions to help your side in secret, or organize your guildmates to bolster a port’s defenses in the face of enemy plotting, your efforts are meaningful and the stakes are high!
I'm what one might consider an appreciator of alcohol, especially Irish and Scotch Whisky, Beer, Red Wine, Brandy and Schnapps.
My favourite thing in the world to do is winery tours, either day trips or longer holidays. With McLaren Vale 20m south, the world renowned Barossa Valley 90m North, Clare Valley 3h North, Coonawarra 3h South, living in the middle of the broad reaching Adelaide Hills, plus all the others - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Australian_wine - I have so many places to visit it's not funny. Along with all the fine local cuisine (plus brilliant cheeses and german style foods in the Barossa for picnics), on a given day off, I simply cannot think of anything better to do.
Games, mostly RTS but also some FPS, plus I'm a mercenary in EVE Online and a Spanish Naval Officer in Pirates of the Burning Sea. New owner of a Wii, using Wii Sports and Wii Fit a lot as a supplement to other fitness activities, plus playing Metroid Prime 3, Driver 5 and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles waiting for a shot, and hoping to get Super Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. soonish.

I'm also something of a sports fan, though not in a bad way. I follow Australian Rules Football (Adelaide Crows and Norwood Redlegs) and Cricket (SA Redbacks), plus A-League football (Adelaide United), EPL football (Arsenal), WRC, V8 Supercars and a variety of other sports to a lesser degree. I'm a fan of motorsport, and one day hope to compete in Clubman racing with a car I'll build myself (PRB Australia www.prbaustralia.com.au/, Birkin www.birkin.com.au/ or Arrows www.arrowsportscars.com.au/), and Rally Driving.
Hobbies: Homebrewing Beer, Mead and Cider, collecting wine and whisky, writing - who knows, ask me for some samples of any of the above and I might even provide. I'm always partial to sharing a drink and a yarn, afterall.
