Founded upon the precepts of honor, devotion, and nobility, the noble Kanians, mystical elves, and inquisitive Gibberlings comprise the League. The League is led by Aidenus, the Great Mage of Kania, and covers 10 major allods centered around the capital. Unlike the Empire, which is driven by the pursuit of military and scientific superiority, the League protects its people with the strength of its army and the commitment of its citizens. For thousands of years, the Kanians have resisted the ceaseless incursions of the Xadaganian army. This is now reflected in the League’s unwavering position against Xadaganian, orcish, and Arisen depredations. One of the most noteworthy aspects of the League is the Church of Light, The Church is the oldest existing religion on Sarnaut and allows all races to openly worship Tensess. The Kanians and elves are the strongest disciples of the Church, as the religion never truly caught on with the free-spirited Gibberlings.
The League boasts a military similar in strength to the Empire. Yet, with its agrarian roots, the League has lacked the Empire’s single-minded lust for conquest. Noble birth is very important to Kanians, and elves care deeply about the house they belong to. Consequently, many citizens in the League are more concerned about themselves and their families than the League. Though the government has been attempting to create a more egalitarian society, change has been slow. The prejudices within the League focus on status rather than race, and the League remains perpetually mobilized against the Empire’s ceaseless expansion into their territories. The Kanians One of the oldest kingdoms in Sarnaut, Kania is a society rooted in tradition and nobility. With the Church of Light acting as the moral compass for the people, most government decisions are made by a group of Kanians who come from noble birth. Life in Kania differs very little from generation to generation; even the perpetual Xadaganian incursion beginning four millennia ago did little to change this. Instead, the result was a lasting animosity and determination to protect their way of life. Known for their strong and stately looks, their kind disposition, and their desire for freedom and happiness, the Kanians are an honorable people who consider their faith to be of the utmost importance. With a love for nature and a desire to live in beautiful and open-aired lands, few cities exist in Kania. Instead you will find numerous small villages spread throughout the meadows and birch groves of their allod. Extremely fond of physical activity and a healthy way of life, the Kanians are nearly a head taller than the people of Xadagan. Blessed with the ability to wield Holy magic and call upon the powers of their deity, Kanians make dominant Crusaders and Clerics. Historically a rare pursuit, harnessing the flows of Elemental magic has become a more common discipline amongst the Kanains, resulting in a number of powerful Magicians. An ancient love and reverence of nature paves the way for Kanians to successfully harness the forces of Nature magic, making their Druids a powerful force with which to be reckoned. Agile, intuitive, and quick with a bow, Kanian Archers are a crucial part of the Kanian army. Strong, noble, and determined, a Champion of Kania is a foe one would do best to avoid in battle, if one wishes to survive. The Elves The most ancient of all the races, the elven race was originally composed of many large communities united by ties of blood, collectively known as the Great Ball of Families. As a result of the Cataclysm, however, the numbers of the elves were drastically reduced and they could no longer refer to themselves as “Great”. With only eight major elven bloodlines remaining, the elves renamed themselves to the Ball of Eight Families. While few in number, the elves are a powerful force and an ally the League is thankful to have. A beautiful and vain race, the elves allied with the League out of mere convenience. With a deep dislike of the Empire, joining forces with the League was the most logical choice. Though always ready to support the League when needed, the elves prefer to focus their energy on the needs of their own race. Striving to enjoy the many pleasures of life and continually searching for perfect beauty, the elves are often viewed as extremely self-absorbed and narcissistic. Within the society there is a constant struggle between the eight elven families for power, a battle known as the Great Game. With a deep reverence of Arcane and Holy magic, as well as their innate magical ability, elves excel in nearly every mystical field of study. It is for this reason that the elves alone produce fearsome Archmages and powerful Priests. Though their activities are often considered controversial, elven Demonologists are steadily growing in numbers and are increasing their knowledge of Shadow magic. Looking to take advantage of their natural agility and dexterity, the elves have recently begun to excel in hand-to-hand combat. Combined with their deep knowledge of Holy magic, elves can make for commanding Templars. The Gibberlings Originating from a small island known as Isa, the Gibberlings are a cute, furry, and mischievous race. Traditionally excellent fisherman and sailors, the Gibberlings take refuge in the sea, preferring to live on ships which offer ample protection from their enemies, as well as a primary source of food. After the Cataclysm and discovery of the Astral, the Gibberlings took a liking to Astral ships, frequently launching sailing expeditions in search of their lost homeland of Isa. Nearly always born as a part of a group of triplets, known as a Sprout, Gibberlings are extremely fertile. It is rare to ever see a Gibberling apart from their brothers or sisters. Extremely social and friendly, the Gibberlings are treated with great respect by the other races of the League. Agile, tricky, and coordinated in combat, the Gibberlings have proven that size truly does not matter, particularly when it comes to roughing up orcs. Extremely intelligent creatures, it was the Gibberlings who discovered the secret of travelling through the Astral, thus opening the door to the Era of Astral Travel. Because of their small stature and unnatural dexterity, the Gibberlings have an uncanny ability to approach foes unnoticed, making them superb Tricksters, delivering their poisoned arrows with absolute accuracy. Having a profound respect for Nature magic and a deep understanding of all living creatures, the Gibberlings are superior Animists. With the natural ability to foresee the future coupled with their sharp minds, the Gibberlings fill the powerful role of the League’s only Seers. Despite being small in stature, the Gibberlings’ agility and unusual vitality lead to their status as first-rate Brawlers, a fact that often astonish their foes in combat.
