soooo.. i recently got the new xbox 360. ya know, the 250gb built in memory, sleek black, kinect ready and built in wi-fi..
so im currently transferring all my shizzled dizzle from my other console to this console. was wondering, if it wasn't on your detachable hard drive would all your saved games be transfered as well to your new system? i dont care too much about what i lose as far as saved games and shit. im more worried about my mass effect data i had on my old console not transferring. anyone know anything about this or in the same predicament as i am?

I bought the Slim and using a basic flash drive, I was able to use the transfer feature without any problems. The only thing that didn't transfer over were Installed Games and one or two DLCs. Everything else was fine.

when you say transfer feature you mean the online once a year profile transfer deal? cuz thats what im using. i might have to go back thru after hours of data downloads to grab a few things that didn't transfer. *shrug*.

No. I mean plug in a basic flash/pen/usb drive. You will probably have to format it first using your XBox. Go to Settings, Memory, and then don't actually click into your XBox hardrive but if you highlight it, it will give you the option of pressing a button...Y I think...to start a transfer. You then choose your pen drive and such, it will transfer the data from XBox 1 to the pen drive. Plug that pen drive into your second XBox and do the reverse; IE transfer from the pen drive to your second XBox. It sounds more complex than it really is. It is nothing more than a few button pushes and two transfers.
