| Description | One of the highlights of Microsoft’s Press Conference at this year’s E3 show in Los Angeles, CA was the unveiling of their sleek, newly designed Xbox 360 S Console. Packed with a robust 250GB hard drive and built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, the next Xbox 360 is geared to deliver the ultimate gaming experience right out of the box.
The glossy black finish along with the more angular shape is a visual step up from the matted finish of the Xbox 360 Elite. The large hard drive ensures plenty of space for games, add-ons, HD movies, music and much more. The new Xbox 360 also eliminates the need for a wireless adapter thanks to built in 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity to enable easy access to Xbox LIVE. In addition to these features, the revamped Xbox 360 is built to run much quieter than the original Xbox 360 or the Xbox 360 Elite. This will come as a welcomed benefit for those of us who have complained about the fan noise of the console in the past. Hopefully the new hardware will also be more effective at reducing heat while operating at an overall lower decibel level.
The Xbox 360 S sports more USB ports than before, with a total of 5 connections (3 in the back / 2 in the front). There’s also an integrated optical audio out port along with the standard Ethernet port and HDMI output for an easier connection to more modern A/V receivers.
In preparation for the release of the highly-anticipated Kinect, formerly known as Project Natal, the new console includes a dedicated, specialized port that will allow for seamless integration of the Kinect sensor, allowing for gamers to become the controller. Kinect is slated for launch in November 2010.
Retailing for $299.99 the Xbox 360 S Console package also includes an Xbox 360 Headset, a Wirelesss Controller, a Composite A/V cable and one month of Xbox LIVE Gold membership. The Xbox 360 S is available now at retailers everywhere! |
