It would punish you if you rushed in, but would let you prosper if you played both tactically and strategically. I agree, HOW that game deals with difficulty is exactly how it's gotten all those GOTY awards. My mainstream choice for GOTY just for accessibility's sake is Uncharted 2 tho |

Beyond Good and Evil. Awesome game, but the boss reversed my controls and I just... can't. xD After a two year hiatus I was able to go back and beat him but for God's sake. D: And the boss for Kingdom Hearts was a pain. I think he had 3 stages and if you died you had to start all over. It makes it so much less worth it if you can watch the ending on YouTube. xD
The mere existence of flame throwers says that someone, sometime, somewhere, said to himself, "You know, I'd really like to set that guy over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

The Phantom, Kurt Zisa and Sephiroth were all mega-headaches. :) KH1 was an awesome game. |

And don't get me started on Demyx. DANCE, WATER! DANCE! Ffffffuuuuu... |

BUT when I replayed it I was not looking forward to fighting him again and he really wasn't that hard. But then again I was... about twelve or so when I first played it. ![]() Just thought of another: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, on the NES.
That game was impossible. Period. You had to jump over Victorians for, pretty much, the entire game; and if you touched them just once, Jekyll died. Mind you, Jekyll never jumped high enough. If you got angry (you had some sort of anger bar, if I remember) and turned into Hyde, the Victorians were replaced by zombies and bats you had to dodge. You killed them to get Hyde's anger back down, so he reverted to Jekyll. That was literally the whole game. And you spent most of it dying, because shit was impossible to get around.
I hope it's burning in the hottest circle of Video Game Hell. Modernity is the transient, the fleeting, the contingent; it is one half of art, the other being the eternal and the immovable.

Oh, it was entirely possible that you were stuck in one. QA back then wasn't as extensive as it is (for what it's worth) now.

I'm going to add Donky Kong Land for the Game Boy. God games don't get much more broken than this...

You know what, with first looking at this I thought 'Ducktales' and almost went into a fit of rage. And then I remember one other game I actually totally gave up on...Casper for the ps1. Lol.

Sorry to bump a slightly old thread, but I had to post this. SNES- Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts. You get to the end, and get an awesome item, just to have to start the entire game over to get to the final boss. Still have yet to do that to this day. |

Hmm every game I always wanted to beat I beat eventually. But the HARDEST game I can ever remember beating was Battletoads for the NES. Holy fuck that shit was crazy, especially the last snake level. You needed crazy reflexes to do it, and it sucked cause there was no continue option and you didn't have alot of lives. TMNT1 for NES was annoying as well.
