Gamer Bio:
|
I have been a long time, avid gamer for many years.
I've owned an Atari 2600, a Sega Master system, borrowed my friends' NES several times, owned a Sega Genesis, GameGear; owned a SNES, Sega CD & 32X (lol), a Sega Saturn, a Dreamcast, a Playstation 1, Gamecube, GBA SP, DS Lite, a Slim PS2, and now a Nintendo Wii.
Across those platforms I've throughly enjoyed a wide spectrum of games from Action, Over-head and Side-scolling Shooters, RPG's, Action-Adventure, Action RPG's, a few puzzle, and some of the orginal FPS's. I liked Doom, Quake, Quake II, Hexen, Portal, Tron 2.0.
I'm now an *aspiring* Concept Design Artist and work as a Free Lance illustrator/graphic artis, and currently training to be professional Enviroment/3-D Objects Modeler. So I don't have 5 - 8 hrs free for gaming anymore. I make do with 2-3 hrs at least each day.
So games that are easy to pick up and play are more conduisive to my time and interests. I still enjoy some *core* games. But adult priorities are more important.
When I first played Wii I wasn't all that interested in it. Then last Xmas it was while visiting relatives, I played my cousin's Wii console. I played some of Metriod Prime 3, WiiSports, Super Mario Galaxy. Well I was impressed, and very very little impresses me, in the first place. So, after a year of careful cosideration on getting a Nintendo Wii, and with many future games looking to be excellent, I decided to buy a Wii. I actually could not care less for Nintendo.
I have come to really love playing Metroid Prime 3, WiiSports Bowling and boxing, Legend of Zelda:the Twilight Princess, Muramasa:The Demon Blade, VC old school classics, especially 8-bit and 16-bit games on Emulators.
I am looking foward to several Wii third party games Monster Hunter 3, Red Steel 2, No More Hereos 2, Fragile, Tales of Graces, Metroid: Other M.
Throughout nearly 3 decades of gaming, massive graphical power and photo-realism while they are often visually nice to watch alot of them have no heart to them IMO.
Super Hi-Def, hyper realistic graphics is not that big of a concern with the games I play.
I'm more impressed my games like Okami, Shadows of the Colossus, De Blob, Odin Sphere and Muramasa The Demon Blade.
Little Big Planet and Mirror's Edge does look impressive too in my view.
It's the aspects of the games overall visual design, the quality of the characters, the gameplay, and that a game is FUN as well as challenging.
The developer or the console really doesn't matter that much to me either. The style, vibe, the heart and spirit put into too few games are what appeals to me.
There are a few games on the Xbox360 that seem really interesting; like Fable II, Mirror's Edge, Darksiders: Wrath of War do seem pretty good. On PS3; Tale of Vesperia PS3 edition, Last Guardian are kind of interesting.
I look foward to what the more creative developers come up with.
